About the Project
Background
Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) remains a critical global concern, directly affecting workers’ physical, mental and social wellbeing. Rapid technological development, industrial growth and shifting socio-economic conditions in Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) have introduced new occupational risks and competence requirements.
At the same time, higher education institutions (HEIs) in the region face challenges related to curriculum modernization, digital transformation, industry cooperation and professional capacity building in OHS.

Project Response
The FOCUS project responds to these challenges by strengthening the relevance, quality and employability dimension of OHS education in selected Sub Saharan African countries: Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania.
General Objective
To increase the quality and relevance of OHS-related curricula in SSA higher education institutions and to enhance their capacity to deliver modern professional development programmes aligned with labour market needs.
